Stryper Oz Tour Announced « Result #2 Today at 4:23pm »
Just Say Rock are excited to announce the return of Stryper, who will be bringing their 25th Anniversary Tour to Australia! After a quarter century of unprecedented success, the righteous rockers known as Stryper have found a way to keep their high-voltage sonic fire burning. No greater evidence exists than the band’s latest studio project and 10th career disc, Murder by Pride.
Without question, Murder by Pride represents a resounding return to form for Stryper. The 12-track album is replete with smoldering dual guitars, euphoric harmonies and sing-along anthems worthy of playing full-volume with windows wide open.
Looking back over the last 25 years, Stryper is considered a groundbreaking act by all accounts. Since the band’s label debut in 1984, the quartet has sold more than 8 million albums worldwide. The first Christian rock band to enjoy decided success in the mainstream market, Stryper’s RIAA certified platinum 1986 magnum opus To Hell with the Devil is listed among the “100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music” as designated by CCM Magazine. The band’s popular power ballad “Honestly” became a Billboard Top 40 hit, peaking at #23.
In conjunction with the latest release, Stryper will be heading to Australia as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations. The tour will feature greatest hits performed by all the original band members including: Michael Sweet (lead vocals, rhythm guitar); Robert Sweet (drums); Oz Fox (lead guitar); and Tim Gaines (bass) as well as newer selections with bassist Tracy Ferrie.
One of the most mesmerizing stage acts still today, Stryper received tremendous exposure on television’s MTV and VH1, paving the way for more faith-fueled bands to be considered for airplay. So come and celebrate 25 years of Stryper as they head our way in April 2010!!

good work Dave... wqould have loved to hear that.
I listen to Red Symons (ABC 774) all the time on the way to work and always think it is ironic that he met Harry at Shirl's funeral, not mention they had the poor original version of Women in Uniform!!

Adrian, I actually think that pub has double rooms as well as dorms, although I'm not sure how much pricier it is. Have a look on their website or contact them.

http://formule1.com.au/default.aspx <<----- it's in Elizabeth street right near Flinders st station. Dave and Tal stayed there for Maiden. Ask em what they thought. Suze and I went there on our trek to find cheap motels for people for the Maiden trip. Looked nice from the little we could see... foyer/reception area. And you can walk to Billboards from there it's not far. About 2-3 blocks away. Tram it if you're feeling lazy.
yep, Billboard is pretty much right in the CBD, great location. You just walk through China Town from the middle of the city and you're there.
Accomodation wise, there's a great backpackers at a pub across the road called the Exford Hotel. I stay there sometimes when I'm in the city too late to catch trains home during the week (it's cheaper than a cab back to my place haha). It's around $30 a night for a bed in a dorm, plus you get 10% off all drinks while staying there. It's got 24 hour reception so you can come in and out as you please, and it's a fantastic pub for post-gig drinks. It's not the fanciest backpackers, but it's a cheap bed. And it's literally right across the road from Billboard, a 30 second walk.
Thanks Mitch, but with Amanda by my side, I want a private room. And with that, staying in the CBD for 4-5 days to see both Edguy and Sonata, plus concert tickets, plus food (i cant just eat shapes like you lol) it would cost more than im willing to spend. Im not ruling melbourne out altogether, still have to talk to sean about it and see wat he has planned (coz he was the one who asked me to go down with him - he's going for other reasons than to rock), but it is unlikely. Don't wanna waste over $500, and for accomodation alone it will cost me that much, I researched after that post i made. But, if i do end up coming, expect to hear from me.

id bet my house ( if i owned one ) that they will be here between November 2010 and Feb 2011 - all depends when the album comes out. In saying that - i think we will know by mid 2010, plenty of time to organize a road trip and new BDU tour shirts !
I am betting similar to 2008... ~Feb '11 dates... I think anything for 2010 is too early for oz... but I don't care... as long as we get some shows some time I will be happy! I always thought 2008 would be my last chance and then NZ was a bonus...
only reason i think 2010 could happen is if the new album is out in say early november they may do india, oz, nz japan in november and december, break fro christmas and then south america and usa in feb/march 2011 break then do the summer festivals in europe in june. But I dont boo their tours ( unfortunately ) and anything is really a guess. Just as long as they come back here.
Won't happen in 2010... they would need the plane and based on the last 2 years now they hire it during he low season in northern hemisphere... so it is too late to plan a tour for Feb 2010ish... 2011 is my bet...

I couldnt tell you what a failed rocket looked like....
And i am skeptical of pictures i get off the internet and news about this stuff. For me, if i wasn't there, i can't really believe it. It's so easy to alter images these days, I just can't believe that image hasn't been enhanced by some computer geek. However, it is quite interesting.
At Angie's request, i must now go get the facebook convo:
Adam: did any one else see a flash of light or blue light in the sky last night at around 12? what me and nachi say last night was also seen in norway 10hrs later!!!!

Adam: yea the one in norway was 10hrs before the blue light me and my friend nach saw

Pinky can you elaborate on what they saw for us please?
This is fascinating stuff. They're still trying to pin it on a failed Russian missile launch but there's no evidence to confirm that other than circumstantial. AND the Russians are still saying that the Norway light was unrelated to their test. They aren't denying they did the test and they have confirmed that it failed, but they're still saying the light was not caused by them. Yet everyone else seems to want to say it was
Does that look like a failed rocket to you? Eyewitnesses are saying it formed at first like the usual arora with a greenish light in the sky, then burst into a blue beam from the sky towards the earth and then the spiral started forming before it fizzled out and what looked like a hole was created in the center of it which expanded. Wouldn't a failed rocket have the appearance of moving out from the earth to the sky instead of the other way round?
In Norway, yesterday. You'll have to translate the webpage if you want to read it. This was seen and photographed by thousands of Norwegians in the early hours of the morning. There's a video of it on that page if you scroll down a tad.
Nobody knows what the F**k it is. There's been suggestions it was a Russian missile gone haywire but the Russians are denying it was them.
Having established itself as the "Best New Festival" at the 2009 UK Festival Awards, SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH moves from strength to strength with the announcement of our phenomenal 2010 headliners, as well as the first of many great bands for the three day event over July 30, 31 and Aug 1.
With the power to rock the very foundations of Knebworth Hall itself, the weekend headliners, both renowned for sensational live shows, are British Metal titans IRON MAIDEN - for whom KNEBWORTH will be their only UK appearance of 2010 - and German industrial rock monsters RAMMSTEIN, who make their first - and only 2010 - UK Festival appearance.
The legendary IRON MAIDEN, whose last UK concert was a sold out show to 50,000 fans at Twickenham Stadium in July 2008, are the biggest selling British Metal band of all time, with album sales in excess of 80 million based on a huge following around the planet built on extensive and spectacular World Tours and the sheer excitement of their live performances. Brit Award winners for BEST BRITISH LIVE ACT earlier this year, Maiden have been at the forefront of Metal for over twenty-five years and continue to go forward with ever increasing success both critically and commercially. Their last tour alone visited 38 countries and played to 2 million passionate fans, with the recent award winning DVD "Flight 666" of this tour making it to No 1 in 25 countries including the UK and USA, where it is still the top selling music DVD so far this year. We are delighted to present a rare opportunity for Sonisphere fans to see one of the world's truly unique and legendary bands in the magnificent setting of the grounds of Knebworth. Prior to playing a few selected dates next summer, Maiden are currently working on a new album expected to be released late next year. Iconic frontman Bruce Dickinson took time out to comment:
"Knebworth has been the home of so many legendary concerts going back many years it really will be a privilege to play there. We enjoy the camaraderie of playing great festivals and are very much looking forward to getting back out to do some shows next summer and, as it will be over two years since we played the UK, we will certainly be looking to deliver a memorable and spectacular night for our fans!"

Okay guys as i couldnt be stuffed researching where "Billboard The Venue" is in Melbourne, could melbournians please tell me where it is? Second, how far is it from the CBD? Third, whats nearby accomodation (say within 10km) of the venue? Seeing as i can catch both the Edguy and Sonata shows in melbourne for the same price, its probably a good idea that i come down. It just relates to whether i can get a few days off work. So if anyone can help, that would be great.
EDIT - Just checked out City Limits in Little Bourke st. (which i suppose is in melbourne's CBD). I stayed their last time for Blind Guardian in 2007. At $634 for 5 nights, theres no chance im coming down. I'm looking at accomodation that is more like 50-70 a night or cheaper. Any ideas? As close to the venue as possible. I dont want a cockroach infested place either. Where are those iron maiden 2008 accomodation threads, hmmm.
EDIT 2 - I just found out that the Billboard is at 170 Russell street, which is just off Little Bourke street, so in the CBD. Sorry for the annoyance people, but my excitement got the better of me. F**k. So the place i stayed at last time, City Limits, is so close to this venue. I dont wanna pay so much for accomodation. F**king!
Most likely. I walked around the block today (albeit slowly) and had a good nights sleep. Still sore but way less shoulder pain so i suppose it's getting better. woohoo!
British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN are expected to announce on Wednesday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m. GMT that they will headline next year's edition of the U.K.'s Sonisphere festival, which will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 and Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Knebworth.
