As far as I know tickets never went on sale for this tour which would more than likely neab nothing was booked. I dont think the album sold too well and when the rumours surfaced about an australian tour the venue for sydney that was being thrown about was the metro which only holds around 1000 - 1500 people. XF had reasonable promotion - full page ads and interviews in Hot Metal ( australian metal mag that was around at the time ) and ads in the free music papers I dont think the promotion was that much different to the promotion for fear of the dark which went top 20 from may when it was released until october when they toured here . As for exact chart position and promoter ( if any ) I couldnt tell you. Id never heard the rumour of Sepultura being a support for them , Id highly doubt it as they were pretty massive out here then and wouldnt need to do a support here. Hope this helps.

I dont know anything about X-Factor tour ever getting to dates being booked and cancelled, I highly doubt it, due to it only charting at number 44 in the album charts.
Just out of interest, here are the album chart positions for Iron Maiden (excluding the first two album which did not register)
NOTB - 8 POM - 17 PS - 26 LAD - 31 SIT - 23 SSOASS - 19 NPFTD - 23 FOTD - 7 ARLO - 42 ARDO - 95 XF - 44 BOTB - 61 VXI - 80 BNW - 33 DOD - 12

You also have to understand that X Factor and Virtual XI with Blaze were not big on the radar here... their popularity wasn't great so a tour in that time without Bruce would not have generated the interest that I am sure a tour would again now.

If only the promoters and sanctuary could get their heads out of their asses....

I remember when we recording our album in 96 the manager of The Roxy was in the studio chatting with our producer when he mentioned he has booked Iron Maiden, to which my response was me jumping around and screaming like an idiot. He told me the date, can't really remember but i think it was April 10 and i was so pumped because The Roxy only holds 1500 max and i knew i'd be real close no matter where i was standing. But alas, it never ended up being a reality

I know that for BNW tour, Steve said he thought there had been Australian dates booked which then became fewer and then disappeared.
