HEAVEN AND HELL — the band featuring BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler, singer Ronnie James Dio, and drummer Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO) — is currently in discussions with various record labels about recording a brand new studio album in 2008, Butler has confirmed to Black-Sabbath.com. More information will be made available soon.

Hope the new album has some more up-tempo stuff on it like Ear in the Wall, Falling Off the Edge of the World etc.. not so much like the Dehumanizer album

I don't think it's got anything to do with that though. The fact is, Black Sabbath are still together, with Ozzy on vocals, so you can't call this album Black Sabbath unless Ozzy leaves. It wouldn't make sense to release the album under the name of a band with a different singer.

They're together? Whens the last time they released an album or played shows? After looking through the history of Sabbath, the last ten years has just seemed like they've had no official singer at all. One album one singer, another album another, and so on.

Just F**kign all it Black Sabbath Tony, seriously. i think ozzy and sharon now own the rights to the name black sabbath. Tony Iommi actually owns the Sabbath name. fact. This is from an interview with Dio before the Australian tour... "Upon the announcement of the band’s first Australian dates in nearly 30 years, we caught up with a relaxed Dio on a week off at home in Los Angeles following Heaven And Hell’s European tour. One of the burning subjects we tackled with him was the confusion over just why this incarnation of Black Sabbath isn't called Black Sabbath. “Quite simply, Iommi owns the name Black Sabbath. So right away, let’s quash the speculation and rumors that Sharon Osbourne’s there with an axe over somebody’s head. That’s not the case at all," Dio explains. "I think that’s what everybody seems to think, but it’s simply not true. I think it’s something that Iommi wanted to do, just because of what Black Sabbath have been through. "For the last 10 years, Black Sabbath have been playing ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Paranoid,’ ‘Black Sabbath,’ etc, etc, etc. So I think Tony wanted to make a separation between that band and this band. Had he not done that, it would be called Black Sabbath—The Dio Years. That is offensive to me. It’s either going to be Black Sabbath or not Black Sabbath. It can’t be a bit of both. He wanted to call it Heaven And Hell, and that was fine by me."

Judging by what shape Ozzy is in these days, I would actually definitely rather a Dio album.
