bahaha! I really think that some of our lesser players should go over there and help the code develop. If money is an issue the International Rugby League body should give them some incentives. I wish the yanks tooks up the sport. It would be awesome. america arent full members of the rlif. some of jim beam cup players go out and play a season or 2. id like to go over there ,not to play but to help in some sort of coaching role for juniors. some of the clubs have started up programmes for the kids in the area through the local schools. the amnrl has grown from a 6 team comp 5 years ago to 12 ( 2 teams joined about 3 years ago ,4 teams joined last season and 1 more next year)teams as of next year so its getting bigger . Australia should be sending their junior kangaroos to play the usa national side - it would do both sides a world of good They should really invest in buying players who leave the NRL to go to England. They'd get more out of that than milking our home grown talent. I think juniors would suffer over there without top notch guidance and would be wasted. I think anyway. |

What do you guys think about Dawn Fraser/Gower situation?
If you don't know Penrith are considering making Gower captain again after he was stripped of it last year because of some mishap on a golf course where he was rude or apparently harrased a woman or some shit? Its something like that.
Well my two cents is that her, along with her lesbian WOMYN groupies should shut the f**k up. Being a captain is being an influential leader, someone who others can look up to in football terms and inspire his team, its not about being a rolemodel. Once you become a star in the NRL, you automatically become a rolemodel. If Craig Gower can't do his job properly as a role model, it shouldn't affect his captaincy. Stupid lesbian thinking she has a say. f**k off grandma.
Plus, I don't believe ANYTHING in the papers about footy anymore. Its all a big shitfight. People have their factions and when one little bit of negative news comes out about someone that they can make some $$$ they jump on it. Thats why when people tell me "footballers this, footballers that" im like "WTF, ARE YOU f**kING DUMB? YOU BELIEVE THE NEWS ABOUT FOOTBALLERS, YET YOU THINK THEY ARE LYING ABOUT IRAQ". sOME PEOPLE ARE JUST f**kING STUPID. Rant over (for now).

Jan 04 - Penrith coach Matthew Elliott will decide who will captain his side before the start of the season – and the choice will not be influenced by outside pressure, Panthers CEO Glenn Matthews said today.
He was responding to a statement by former swimming great Dawn Fraser that Craig Gower was not worthy of regaining the captaincy, stripped from him as a result of behaviour at a charity golf tournament in December 2005.
“Dawn Fraser is entitled to her opinion," Matthews said today. “But she of all people should realise that athletes can make mistakes. She’s made a few in her time. The captaincy of Penrith is none of her business and it’s time she got her nose out of it.
“Craig Gower is a great leader,” Matthews said. “You only have to come to training to see how he trains and how he leads by example to realise that.
“Matt Elliott will make a decision on who will be captain before the start of the season. His decision will be based on what is best for our team and for our club – not on outside pressure.
“Craig not only lost the captaincy as a result of what happened,” Matthews said, “he was also fined $30,000 and put on a $70,000 good behaviour bond by the club.”
In the last 12 months alone, Gower had taken part in around 40 different community functions. “One of them was a golf day for a terminally ill woman in the Blue Mountains. Craig gladly took part and introduced himself to the woman. It made her day.
“As well, a testimonial dinner in Craig’s name raised over $100,000 for Panthers on the Prowl, our community development foundation.
“Craig has always been involved and passionate about our community and these are just some examples of that commitment.
“He made a mistake a year ago and some people just don’t want to let him forget it. It’s time to move on.”
