I think AMOLAD is not much different from the last 3 maiden albums (prior to TFF), there are songs I really love, and songs I don't care for, and songs that are inbetween.
I am resisting the urge to download. It's not because I am against it (I did it with AMOLAD) - I just want to have an old school experience as much as possible with TFF. I am going to pick it up Friday lunch time, finish work early pick up a 6 pack and sink into the lounge in my music room and rock out. Only 2 sleeps to go !!!

Starblind is still the stand out for me, but a lot to revisit! F**k! Much better than AMOLAD from my viewpoint though. Still don't understand how people love it so much.. I love AMOLAD more than BNW so maybe I ain't gonna like this one as much then....

Its groovy, proggy, heavy and melodic all at once. It is awsome and getting better with each listen. Cant wait to buy it on Friday and sit down and listen while going thru the booklet.

I'm digging it do far. It's long winded do going to take a while to get my head around. Still plenty if long intros, but I think il prefer this to AMOLAD which I'm not a real fan of. This is more Brace New World influenced. Standout tracks (so far) are Mother if Mercy & Starblind which kicks major ass. The alchemist is F**ked though, reminds me if Nan on the Edge. Geeeeeigh. Some nice grooves in here which I'm diggin! OMFG!!!!!!!! IM downloading it after i get tix!!!

I thought AMOLAD was progressive until I heard TFF today. Mother of Mercy, Coming Home, Isle of Avalon and Starblind all sound good. Talisman was pretty good too. I already liked TFF and El Dorado. Really like the Satellite 15 intro. I like the chorus on The alchemist but I think it seemed like the weakest track to me. Not a bad song, just kinda sounded like an after thought - maybe a B-side? The album as a whole will need many listens. I like the sound, it's very 'warm', lots of weight in the bottom end Steve's bass is fat and Nicko's kick drum is thumping. Perhaps would have liked cleaner mixing on some of the guitars but I suppose that's what you get when you go for that 'live in the studio' sound as Davey puts it. Only 1 listen so far. Waiting for work to finish so I can go home for a second spin.

On first listen it sounds really good, not sure what to think of the intro but. This is going to be one of those albums that will take me at least a few listens to give any kind of verdict, there is just so much going on there and i'm looking forward to many many repeated listenings. Loved The Man Who Would Be King (onya Mr Murray) and also Talisman, Isle Of Avalon and Coming Home.
Also love all the artwork ;D

I highly recommend listening to this album with a decent set of headphones. I did last night and I heard ALOT of subtle stuff, guitar effects etc, that I didn't hear before. VERY cool.
