Sadly for me, I am somewhat disappointed in the album as a whole, though it does have some good tracks and some flashes of brilliance on other songs that I am not so keen on overall.
I don't want to bash the band or their new album, I guess for me TFF just isn't doing it for me.
What do you guys think of it?

Yeah i'm digging it too, some really strong songs on there, The Man Who Would Be King, Coming Home, The Talisman and Isle Of Avalon are all standouts. The songs seem to be a bit more groovier and the lyrics are awesome The only thing i don't like about it is Satellite 15, reminds me of the intro to Bon Jovi's Lay Your Hands On Me and is just basically shit, but as for the rest of it i'm loving, even The Alchemist.

Dave I like it, but it's like AMOLAD for me. Some songs are good, some are miss, some have good tunes but as an oveall the song isnt great, etc. Im giving it a 6.5-7/10. Lets put it this way, its like the 3rd day ive had the album and i chose to listen to Black Majesty on the way home, something i have listened to about 40 times. The new album is okay i just wish they didnt F**k around with so many long intros and outros, they dont do it for me. It's one of maidens shitter albums for me, its in their shitter half of albums, but just.

Give it time, it's only been out for a few days. The best albums are the ones that are a bit meh at first but then creep up on you, i was dissapointed when Powerslave was first released, but over time i grew to love it. But then with some albums you stay dissapointed, like The X Factor Hope it eventually creeps up on you

Isle of Avalon, the talisman and when the wild wind blows are 3 of the greatest maiden songs ever made. When I heard how quick this album was made and then on hearing el dorado ( which has grown on me big time ) I was worried that this album would be pretty average, but they have delivered the goods in a big way. If they decided to play it from start to finish when they tour I can honestly say that the people in front of me will have sticky hair by the end of the show!

I agree with Skrabsta, the best post reunion album hands down, and probably their best since Seventh Son

Im not sre which one is better, In Your Honour or Tommorowland. Nearly every song has the Black Majesty sort of fast tune and drumming which keeps me inerested and is that heavy part i need, and then for every song they added different tunes/melody, a different style of vocals (eg. Break These Chains is the ballad of the album but then on other song Gio sings in his typical power metal style). Tommorland does have more melodic tunes which are awesome, this albm definately has less of that, but they're both awesome. Anyways, NO MORE BACKTRACKING. Maiden! Maiden! Maiden! I really wouldn't be dissapointed if they played this whole album live either, but i F**king want a DOD and BNW song ffs. If I had to choose, it would be "Dance of Death" and "Blood Brothers."

Yeah # 2 in the charts is fricking awesome!
As for the album itself... I was really finding it a drag (with the excpetion of 2-3 songs) so I stopped listening to after a week, had a few days of not hearing it and then listened to it this morning commuting to work and I had a different prospective... still have issue with the production and mixing (it's not terrible but could have been alot better, but it's way better than XF or VXI for example so... *shrugs*)... and still not a fan of WTWWB or TMWWBK but the first 8 tracks sounded pretty good this morning.
Just as my initial dissapointment is now shifting towards a more positive view I also suspect some of the people (not pointing fingers at anyone here but there are some king sized idiots on the official IM BB)who have been proclaiming this as their best ever will start to change their tune pretty soon (even if they never admit it).
When I go back and listen to Powerslave, Piece of Mind, Somewhere in Time, Seventh Son etc - honestly the band will never top that stuff, nor do I expect them to.

I agree - the band has changed like it or not. They will never write that stuff again. Having said that I really enjoy the new stuff even if it is different. I would still rather have maiden putting out the last few albums rather than retire. Now if these were X-Factor/Virtual XI then I would sing a different tune...

Yeah it's a grower, not in the same vein or better than the 'classics' but the sound of the band maturing and evolving and i like what i hear ;D
