The weakest songs on this album Id say are the legacy or lord of light, cant quite decide, but i still like them both, just not as good as the others im actually leaning toward Out of the Shadows as the worst song on the album.... even though its still bloody brilliant

I believe Maiden's midcareer slump started way before Blaze came along. It happened the day Adrian Smith left, as much as i like NPFTD i found Janick's guitar style erratic and thought his live performance was all show, which was not Maiden to me at all. FOTD was a major let down to me and i blamed Janick but it has only been since DOD that i now accept his role in the band. The guy has written some great tunes in the past years Montsegur, DOD and is responsible for my 2 favourite songs at the moment off the new album. The Pilgrim is just awesome and The Legacy is one of the best songs they have ever done....well done Janick. But the biggest loss of all was Adrian, the first time i heard Wicker Man i got shivers because THAT sound was back

I didnt like npftd when it came out, not so much because of the way Janick played but because I thought it was such let down compared to 7th son. FotD was a patchy album either the songs were really good or ordinary , there really wasnt any middle ground plus it has the worst song maiden had done since gangland up to that point ( weekend warrior - if i wanted to hear songs that sounded like this i would listen to AC/DC. I cant stand AC/DC. )) But yeah, the first time i heard wickerman everything just felt right.

I thought it was a bit too led zeppish.Still a good song, but I think there are better tracks on this album, but thats just me. indeed it is very Led Zeppish but I just cant get it out of my head!! Its taken me 6 or 7 listens of the album from front to back to work out my fave songs. Lord of Light will without doubt be the most underrated song on the album, it totally rules. Perhaps I need at least 7 listens to it too

The Legacy is epic, but far out, For The Greater Good of Good is more epic and powerful to me than the legacy. I like songs that are epic, but they need to be epic and build up to some sort of awesome fastish tune. The Legacy does, but it doesnt jusify the 5 minutes of slowishness before it. However, with For The Greater Good Of God, its moe like the other way around, 2 minutes of slowness followed by 5 minutes of awesomeness! Now thats what i call epic and powerful. When i first heard The Legacy i was thinking that this was Prog metal.

FTGGOG is awesome... but not as "big" as Legacy... and it doesn't take 5 minutes to get going...

I've said it once, I'll say it twice and I'll say it again. The Legacy is a modern maiden classic. I love Greater Good and The Longest day as well. These 3 are my favourite thus far.
