IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson's film about occult legend Aleister Crowley (infamous as "the wickedest man in the world") has finally gone into production, according to Fangoria. Produced by London-based Focus Films, the movie, entitled "Chemical Wedding", stars Simon Callow (IMDb) — of "Amadeus", "Shakespeare in Love" and, appropriately, "The Phantom of the Opera" — as a Cambridge professor who becomes a reincarnation of Aleister Crowley (a role that, at various points, Malcolm McDowell and Roger Daltrey were said to be attached to); John Shrapnel, Kal Weber, Terence Bayler and Geoff Breton also star.
Crowley, who lived between 1875 and 1947, has been Bruce Dickinson's idol for many years. The IRON MAIDEN song "Revelations" is said to refer to Crowley's classic claim that he was the "anti-christ 666" reincarnated. In other words, the Devil himself.
Although Bruce isn't planning a successor to his 2005 solo album "Tyranny of Souls" in the break before MAIDEN's next summer tour, he doesn't rule out getting together with producer/guitarist Roy Z to work on some new music for the soundtrack.

Oh that's awesome! About time guys, only 10 years on... hehe.
Wikipedia seems to be indicating: "Warner Music has already taken on all UK and Ireland rights and plans a theatrical release in 2008." which sounds pretty kick arse!

some more news about the movie , this time about the soundtrack -
Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who is currently on a massive worldwide tour with the band, personally piloting them round the planet in their customised Boeing 757, has now moved into the world of film, having written the screenplay for the forthcoming supernatural horror movie, Chemical Wedding.
Bruce, along with Andre Jacquemin (co-writer of Man of Sorrows) has also composed the musical score for the film, which will include an unusual orchestration of Maiden's classic Run To The Hills and his solo tracks Chemical Wedding and Man Of Sorrows.
Exploiting Dickinson's long-time interest in Aleister Crowley (to whom the Iron Maiden songs "Moonchild" and "Revelations" both refer), the film sees the man once dubbed "the wickedest man in the world" and self-proclaimed as "The Beast" reincarnated in modern-day Cambridge.
Chemical Wedding is distributed by Warner Music Entertainment UK and will open at UK cinemas at the end of May.
In related news, Bruce has apparently invited guests to Cannes on Maiden's own Boeing 757 jet for the premiere on May 17.
