Keep your eyes and ears peeled to this space.
I heard very strong rumors that Iced Earth are in Australia in April / May of 2008. This source is normally right. It's the same person that told me about Blind Guardian a few weeks before it was announced and the same person that told me about Angra before that was announced......this is also the same person telling me that Immortal are here in March as well as Amon Amarth later next year.
P.S// I like the new Iced Earth album. Personally I think it is much better than their last album, but the weakest of the upcoming trilogy as I think they are going to outdo themselves on each album of the series they are working on....of course nothing will come close to Something Wicked This Way Comes.

I'm looking forward to seeing this great band live, though apparently they don't perform their epic ballads now that ripper is at the mike.
Oh and according to the plans something wicked part 2 will be out jan/feb, so they will prob tour with some of that material also!

ICED EARTH mainman/guitarist Jon Schaffer has issued the following statement:
"Hello, dear friends!
"Once again the winds of change are upon us, and this time I can say that I am very happy about the result.
"While out on the European tour I had several in depth discussions with many loyal ICED EARTH fans. A common theme of these discussions was how much Matt is missed. I agreed with the fans that things were not the same and that it was a very special period in ICED EARTH's history.
"When I heard several months ago that Matt [Barlow] was going to be doing a project in music again, I was thinking about contacting him and seeing what his intentions were. I didn't act on this because I was so focused on the writing of the new epic, and frankly, it just didn't seem realistic.
"Well, after getting out on the road and speaking with many of you directly, I decided to call Matt and see how he was doing and if he was interested in working together again. I am proud to say that he is coming back to ICED EARTH and we will be getting back to work in the studio very soon.
"Matt will be singing on Part 2 of the 'Something Wicked' concept CD and we will be looking forward to getting out on tour and delivering a series of ICED EARTH shows that will rival any in the history of the band. And there will be a proper DVD filmed from this period, something we’ve all been waiting for.
"I want you all to know that it was you who made this a reality. I have missed Matt's presence onstage and in my personal life in a big way over the past few years, so I appreciate your honesty in our discussions. It did help me realize the decision to move forward with pursuing this. The fans have spoken and we have delivered!
"You true fans know that I'm a straight shooter, I say what I mean and mean what I say. And though I value your opinions greatly, you must believe that this is a decision that comes completely from the heart and is not motivated by anything other than what feels the best for ICED EARTH. This is the way that things have always been dealt with, for better or for worse, but always honestly and from the heart.
"Tim Owens is a great and talented singer and I wish the best for him and his future on a personal and professional level.
There will be more news soon as to further developments and plans. This will push back the release of Part 2 a bit. Not because we couldn't be ready to record in time, but because of a new addition to Matt's family in early 2008!
"I am very happy to announce that ICED EARTH is truly BACK!"

If i was Ripper i would be pissed off. What is he, a singer for hire until the original vocalist of the bands he's joined decides to come back?
It's in his favour anyway, the last Iced Earth album blows!

Ripper is a fantastic vocalist. Sure he got knocked back but i'm sure he'd be able to get into any band he likes. He even got into Priest after all...
This is good news but hopefully he still keeps linkings with Pyramaze because i was dying to hear what they would do with Barlow...

I think it's F**king horse shit the way Ripper gets treated. I'd be pretty pissed if I were him! I agree with exactly what Shaun said about it. Question is, what will Ripper do now? I don't really give 2 F**ks about what happens with Iced Earth anyway these days as I find the albums are only half good, half bad lately.

Well I thought the last Iced Earth album was awesome and that Schaffer was really on the right track with his writing as far as fitting with Rippers vocals. Hopefully there isn't an average transition album (like TGB was) again.
I do feel sorry for Tim however. I think he should focus on his solo stuff rather than joining all these big bands. He doesn't get the respect he deserves when taking over from vocalists like Barlow and Halford.
Anyway, fingers crossed that the new material with Barlow turns out to be up their with their older stuff. It'll be interesting to see whether the new Iced Earth album or Pyramaze album sounds better with Barlow.
I would've been quite happy for IE to keep Ripper and for Barlow to stay with Pyramaze but oh well, i'm not fussed either way, as long as Barlow is singing something other than gay school songs about drink driving.

Lol, Yes - I always imagined some metalheads rocking up to a primary school that his police band was and being like "DUUUUUDEEE Sign my iced earth albums!" while he was singing about how drugs are bad

With the framework for the Armageddon of Man firmly laid with the band’s 2007 full-length release, "Framing Armageddon - Something Wicked Part I", ICED EARTH are set to launch the next installment of Jon Schaffer's "Something Wicked" saga with the release of their new single, "I Walk Among You", in June of 2008. The full-length studio follow-up to "Something Wicked Part I" is due for release in fall of 2008. The new single and proceeding full-length studio album mark the return to the band of longtime frontman Matt Barlow, whose dark and sinister tones are the perfect fit to narrate the intense and viscous annihilation of mankind set in motion with the birth of the story’s main character, "Set Abominae", in "Something Wicked Part II". The single will allow fans to get a glimpse of the bright future for the band, and the perhaps not-so-bright future for humanity as we now know it. The single will feature three songs, an exclusive version of the song "I Walk Alone" and a few tracks from "Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Part 1)" with new vocal performances by Matt Barlow. Due to the re-tracking of the lead vocals these tracks have been remixed and remastered. There will be an iTunes-exclusive version of the single "I Walk Among You" that features "A Charge To Keep" which has also been re-sung by Matt, remixed and re-mastered. The video for "I Walk Alone" is being filmed in early April. All tracks were recorded at Jon Schaffer's studio, Soaring Eagle Sound, and mixed and mastered at Morrisound. The single, and following full-length platter will be released by Steamhammer/SPV. "I Walk Among You" (cover artwork) track listing: 01. I Walk Alone 02. Setian Massacre 03. The Clouding 04. A Charge to Keep (exclusive iTunes track)

I can't wait to hear The Clouding re-recorded with Barlow. That was easily my favourite song on the album, and I think it'll suit Barlow really well.
