The year is just about up and i'm just curious to see what albums you highly rated this year or what albums dissapointed you. Here's mine 1. Machine Head - The Blackening 2. Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos 3. Opeth - The Roundhouse Tapes 4. Down - Over The Under 5. Shadows Fall - Threads Of Life 6. Alchemist - Tripsis 7. Divine Heresy - Bleed The Fifth 8. Demolition - Strike Force 9. Kings Of Leon - Because Of The Times 10. Devildriver - The Last Kind Words 11. Parkway Drive - Horizons 12. Black Sabbath - The Dio Years This is what dissapointed me 1. Iced Earth - Framing Armaggedon 2. Megadeth - United Abominations 3. Ozzy Osbourne - Black Rain and i'm yet to hear Soilwork - Sworn To A Great Divide Helloween - Gambling With The Devil

I agree that Iced Earth and Megadeth were below par.
Mortal Sin's album sounds pretty good, same as Lord's Ascendence. But seriously, Black Majesty's Tomorrowland for me, i love that F**ker.

LORD - Ascendence Mortal Sin - An absence of faith Soilwork - Sworn to a great Divide ( good album - not as good as stabbing the drama though )
Let down Sum 41 - underclass hero - they stopped progressing to heavier music as they had been on their last 2 albums and this one sounds like the first album they released, but worse - every song on this new one sounds the same and shit.

Demolition - Strike Force Arch Enemy - Rise of the Tyrant
Gammaray - Land of the Free part II This one for me was, well, good music, Gamma ray are my favourite band (well 2nd, seeing maiden is always really going to be number 1) but a big mistake was made naming it Land of the Free part II, because it is going to be compared to the Brilliant original land of the free, and to me, barely anything can touch the magic on that album. Good music but put in bad light because of the naming - and well, i'm sure their naming of it will cause gamma ray fans all over to start comparing it to their original masterpiece...
a BIG dissapointment for me, was -
Annihilator - Metal. This Album lacks all the punch i loved so much about schizo. And while Jeff waters still goes nuts as do a lot of the guest musicians The tone isn't raelly doing it for me. I think it's something that soudns much better VERY loud than at normal listening volumes, but the vibe is just not working for me. A lot of the songs are quite plain and even teh brilliant Mike Ammott and Angela gossow contributions are not enough to save some of hte songs on this for me.

I can hardly remember what came out in 2007, but from memory Nightwish and Helloween floated my boat! I'm sure there were others. Gamma Ray's album somewhat disappointed me. I don't know if it's the source (itunes), but it sounds unmastered to me. Is my copy a dud?
