as far as the influence debate goes with van halen, i beleive eddies playing was where the influence on a lot of metal bands guitarist,famous or bed room hackers like my self was found.me personally i prefer DLR era due to it has more of a raw and heavier guitar sound,prime example UNCHAINED from fair warning.where as sammy hagar era was more synth based love songs,although F.U.C.K album is pretty impressive(poundcake).but what would a death/thrash metal fan such as my self know about rock music lol
