Sedging is awesome. Its good for me cause it doesnt get to me, but its so easy to put someone off their game if i sledge them lol. But most people are wankers and want to start fights. I suppose if you sledge and it isn't warranted to the person you are having a go at, there is always a chance that they may take exception.Thats the whole point of sledging. If the person you were sledging was standing there saying insult me it would kind of defeat the purpose.

yeah what it said on the field never stays on the field. and it's a fine line between good natured ribbing and a straight out abuse. all depends on the company you are in, the tone of your voice etc.

I suppose i'm from the era where it was taken for granted that the opposition of whatever team or sport you were playing would try to say stuff that would put you off. I remember the "colourful" and suggestive language you would hear at the football from the players if you sat at the fence. Talk about ripe.

At a game an exception may not always make some lose track of what they are doing either. That is what I was getting at! Calling people names that incite issue against race, isn't too smart in my opinion. Not trying to be a stick in the mud but there are a**holes in all nationalities.

Isn't it the Aussie's that whinged to the Umpire.
"I was called a Monkey!" Who's the Cry Baby?
I can see the similarities personally!
Now Brad Hogg is got to answer charges, what goes around comes around. I reckon they should have cancelled the series, put something decent on the TV, during the day when I am not here!

This whole cricket sledging thing has become a joke. I work as a Senior Manager at Cricket Victoria. During the MCG test I got to spend a lot of time with both the Australian and Indian teams and I can tell you that they have called the other team much worse names than "monkey". I was talking to some ex-Aussie national team players who I work with. These guys pretty much told me that if ANYONE gets upset by being called the names reported in the press then they would not have lasted an innings back in the 80's and 90's.
Basically my take......Ponting crossed a line that should not have been crossed because much worse things are said on the cricket field and it's an unwritten rule that nothing gets reported.....Indians should pull their head in and quit acting like babies and threatening to qit the tour. I bet they wouldn't be threatening this action if they had drawn that second test and were still in the running to win the series!.
