Hi all, am surprised Tris or anyone else has not posted this already - but Maiden have just posted this A Land Down Under If you're of an Australian persuasion, you might want to keep an eye on the website next week. Just sayin'. :-) Now if anyone not aware there has been a lot of speculation that Maiden may headline Soundwave 2011. Is it a co-incidence then that Soundwave are announcing final line-up this Thursday... Personally I would only like to see them do SW if they did their own sideshows also like many other bands. I wonder if they would come to Adelaide this time - even if only for SW? At one stage it did not look like SW was even going to be in Adelaide next year because of councils new fees and conditions etc - but still on now but may be moved to Adelaide Showground same as BDO ... but thats another story...

Oh god I hope they don't do Soundwave (or any festival for that matter) Soundwave means *no fanclub presales *no first to the barrier *no guarantee that hard core fans (such as us lot here) will even be able to get tickets. I will pull out all the stops to get to every show possible(including soundwave)but boy I wouldn't be happy about it.
fingers crossed for a stand alone tour ;D

Agreed, i really hope they don't play it, it's a trendy metalcore festival that quite frankly doesn't deserve Maiden on it's bill. Plus i fkn hate festivals, would much prefer their own headling shows. Hope, no pray it's just a rumour

My initial reaction was the same as you lot. I want a stand-alone maiden tour, not this idea of soundwave. Sands is soooo right - maiden deserves a stand alone tour. The biggest thing about this that will pain me is being with other deadbeats who have only "heard of" maiden, but are into things like slipknot and my chemical romance, etc. Lets hope not!

TripleM Sydney have a confirming story on it this morning. Will Soundwave have a space for us older more discerning Maiden fans? the story only mentions it is a rumour from www.triplem.com.auAll you metal heads out there we have some awesome tour news for you. If you thought Metallica was big, we can reveal that the legendary Iron Maiden are strongly tipped to be here in Australia in February next year. Music reporter Nui Te Koha revealed this exclusive news to us this morning. "Iron Maiden, the British new wave hard rockers, are strongly tipped to headline the Soundwave festival, which is becoming a real alternative to the Big Day Out." The Soundwave festival will be here in February 2011. And there is said to be a humungous 54 international rock bands on the bill, including Iron Maiden and, wait for it… Slash! "I can confirm that Slash is on the bill for next year," he said. "Slash is here next week obviously but he'll be back for Soundwave next year."

ok, looks like shitwave is a lock. Time to turn this shitty festival into MAIDENWAVE. We'll just crowd all the emo kids out by shear weight of numbers. I think I'll just treat this as a stand alone Maiden show - with the added bonus of 20+ support acts. Bring It On !!!

Well I guess we'll have to wait and see the announcement on Thursday but the 'rumour' seems pretty certain.
Can't really complain about Maiden coming here, under any circumstances really, but I will disappointed if they don't add a couple of arena shows at least because I'd really like to take my kids along this time (as they were too young back in '08) and I will not be taking them to a festival gig.
There is 5 days between the Sydney and Melbourne soundwave shows, maybe Maiden will slot in their own shows in Sydney and Melbourne in that gap? I can only hope.

Will anyone not be going to soundwave if their city gets some arena shows? That's just a thought that crossed my head, but if maiden are in my city i will probably go either way. How much are soundwave tickets? I don't like the idea of outdoor shows; never been to one but yeah, hot stinky weather, pouring down rain, just makes the experience a little less euphoric. If soundwave tix are like $150 ill seriously contemplate flying down to melb for an arena show, if they do infact have arena shows.
