The more I listen to this track the worse it gets, it a poor mans Rainmaker and I am EXTREMELY disappointed. For christs sake the production on this song has completely ruined my excitement from hearing Benjamin Breeg.
Oh i'm speechless, I was so pumped, now i'm just empty.

oh yeah to each his own completely. I just can't get my head around why they can't reproduce energy to the extent of Aces High or Moonchild? It may be the production I don't know. To be honest being a drummer, Nicko's chops on this track may be ruining the thing for me, it's just so bland it's not funny, he laid the same style fills on Rainmaker and Wildest Dreams and it's just not inevnting. Bah, what the hell is wrong with me, i'm off my head!!

I like the song... but I think that is just cause it is a simple rocker... kinda like Rainmaker/WD/CIPWM... easy to get into... but am sure it won't be a long time keeper/classic...
Can I suggest that your frustration beetle is due to them perhaps writing largely on their own... "throwing" songs together from bits and pieces when they get together and seeing what sticks... as opposed to "the old days" where they probably spent more time together and hammered out some absolute classics.
This is not to say there haven't been... I still maintain that Paschendale is one of the best things they have done... but their writing changes from period to period obviously...

could be I don't know, I think the whole laying out tracks live is not good either. I means layering tracks like Birch did worked and that cant be denied.

that's what I mean... there was a lot of time writing, arranging, recording the old stuff... we all know he was nicknamed the headmaster... that wasn't for nothing....
you get a different sound if you write quickly and record live... i think this album does/will sound a lot thinner than some of the classics... due to the lack of layers... perhaps a more straight ahead rock sound

I think they need to hang them up after this album. Bruce and Adrian should move on however..

I think as they have developed into more accomplished musicians, they probably dont need as long as they used to put together songs.
They are certainly more experimental than they used to be, but by and large I feel Maidens sound changed forever when 'Arry started to take over in producing, which started to show right from No Prayer when it was obvious from interviews at the time that he was getting more involved and Martin taking a step back.
They have had their moments of brilliance since the 80's there is no doubt, but their albums 80-88 were a special era... i dont expect them to ever reach that level of consistent genius again....
Having said that, the albums with Caveman have been good, leap years beyond the albums from the 90's, with some truly brilliant stuff. I'm looking forward to AMOLAD, i hear great promise if the two tracks ive hear are any indication.

Bruce and Adrian should move on however.. i completely disagree. as much as i agree that their new music cant compare to albums such as Powerslave, their newer stuff is enjoyable too which is the main thing. as long as they are making music that we enjoy listening to, then they are doing a good job, people shouldnt dwell on classics. they are classics for a reason
