Iron Maiden manager , Rod Smallwood, today confirmed that Iron Maiden will be making a short festival tour of the East Coast of Australia in Feburary 2009. " The reception we had in Australia earlier this year was phenominal , even though it had been more than 15 years since we last toured there. So the band decided , as a thank you to those Aussie Fans that have stuck by us , to return after thhe current tour is over and play some shows in a way that Australian fans have not experienced on their home soil - a full outdoor festival show - complete with everything that the fans in Europe and the US would get to see. " It has also been confirmed that instead of bringing the Somewhere back in Time tour back to Australia , the band will be bringing their stage set up from the successful A Matter of Life and Death tour this time but as Rod states " were bringing the production but we will be playing a special set just for the Aussie Fans - a set that will include a bunch of classics aswell as a load of songs from our last 3 albums ." This mini tour will play at Olympic Park in Melbourne on Friday 6th Feburary and at the Eastern Creek Raceway on Sunday 8th Feburary - no ther dates have been confirmed so far. So far Lauren Harris has been confirmed for the bill , but in a shock move , Bruce Dickinson has announced that he will open the day with a set from his solo outfit. One more international act , aswell local artists will be added to the bill closer to the date. Tickets go on salle via Ticketek on 6th June. There will be a special presale for Iron Maiden Fan Club members on the 3rd of June - for more information goto www.ironmaiden.com.au

I'm glad Stormster told me this was an April Fool's joke before I read it in here, otherwise I would have gone off the deep end with excitement and felt a soul-shattering disappointment similar to Stormster's when I discovered the jovial nature of this post.
And I for one am sick of fake news as an April Fools joke. A practical/personal joke is one thing, but making up fake news just pisses me off. I rely on the sites I go to for news, and as such I trust them to have integrity. When this shit happens, it then throws everything else I read there into doubt.
To summarise appropriate April Fool's etiquette:
Practical jokes involving slippery floors and copious amounts of shaving cream : COOL
Fake News (including a fake IRON MAIDEN IS COMING BACK post) : NOT COOL

Stormster - grow a set BJ - if your going to trust everything your read on the net your more disturbed than I thought ! The fact that it said that Bruce was opening should have set the alarm bells ringing for a start. Tickets going on sale on the 6th of the 6th is another alarm bell. Re using the AMOLAD set - never gonna happen - probably destroyed by now anyway. Maiden playing Eastern Creek raceway and Olympic Park - not in this lifetime. No way they could do 2 festival shows in 2 different states with only a 2 day gap - not logistically possible. BTW - i put " a set that will include a bunch of classics aswell as a load of songs from our last 3 albums " just for you pinky - im sure the thought that they might play BNW tracks would have had you making a mess in your pants alone.
