You'll be happy to know JB Hifi is already stocking them, but you might need to order the boxset.

It would be good to because albums like battalions of fear, follow the blind and tales from the twilight world all have that thrashy sound, but it would be cool to see a better production on them

I actually rang up JB Hifi today to speak to Paul Haug about it, but he's on holidays. The guy whom I talked too told me that you can order them individually through the store or online, at the moment they have 4 of the 8 albums online. You could try ordering them through Nuclear Blast Europe, or even a independent distributor if you want all of them. I'm going to wait a week or two and see what happens. This is pretty much what Megadeth did, they got rid of all their back catalogue and started again. The only difference is BG is only remastering the songs, not redoing everything. I reckon in about a month we'll see these album at around $20, but its safe to say that the originals will be obsolete soon. At the moment "Stomp", is releasing the albums for Australia. www.jbhifionline.com.au/music/search/artistid/18770

What's the "remastered" vs "new mix 2007" mean?

What's the "remastered" vs "new mix 2007" mean? The first two albums have been remixed, Hansi mentioned this on a recent post on the BG website. He wanted to do this because the sound on the first two album weren't that great, plus the album booklet is only a folded piece of paper so that will have extra liner notes, pictures and more info about the lyrics. The other albums have just been remastered with bonus songs and videos. To find out more just visit the myspace page I made when BG toured earlier this year. myspace.com/bgmelbournemeetup I try to upload it as much as possible, so keep an eye on it for any upcoming BG news.

Does remastered mean re-recored - with better production n stuff? Thats what i think it means, if so, after exams i will take a good look at it.

Obviously they've remixed the first two albums (just listen to the samples on that German website). They aren't re-recording anything though, it's just remixing the original tapes to sound more 'full' and modern really. I'm dubious about the rest of the albums though. They sound about the same to me, so you're just paying for the bonus tracks, beefed up sleeve notes and pretty case for them. Have I got it right??

OK I can confirm that the final 6 remasters do sound different to the originals. They are definately mixed louder and seem to be more clear.

Here ya go Stormy
German power metallers BLIND GUARDIAN have finished writing eight new songs for the band's forthcoming album. Vocalist Hansi Kürsch states: "What can I say about these songs? They rule, of course. You want a more precise description? Impossible. All I can say is that each and every song is 100% BLIND GUARDIAN, which, naturally ,means there is a wild bunch of different things going on from time to time (always?). According to atmospheres: we have everything from the more 'Nightfall'-ish 'Curse My Name', to the 'Script'-ish 'Wheel Of Time'. In comparison to 'A Twist In The Myth', the lyrical direction will be more on the fantasy side as you most probably can figure out by these titles. The song 'Sacred' will give you an idea about the quality and the direction of the songs. We have mixed modern elements with traditional ones throughout the whole songs. We may need two or three more tracks before we can call it a complete album, but being that far in the songwriting process we nevertheless have made first plans for a production start in September or October 2009. Apart from songwriting, we will be heavily engaged in pre-production activities and in playing festivals during the next months. As a majority of the new songs seem to demand a sort of 'live' atmosphere, we consider it to be good idea breathing in some real 'live' air before we will finally get lost in the Twilight Hall studios again. In accordance to these events, I can promise you some surprising songs (though most probably no new ones) and a nice stage setup. In total, we are not going to play more than ten shows, I would think. I am sure they all will turn out to be a great blast and a unique experience for everyone joining us."

Pity i cant be there. I liked A Twist In The Myth, but its not their best, infact its one of their worst, but in saying that, just cause its bad by Blind Guardian's standards, doesnt mean its bad! I quite enjoyed it for a while!

I quite enjoyed it for a while! It's not that bad dude. I quite enjoyed it. It's alot more mainstream in a sense then their earlier material, but I still enjoyed it. If the new album sounds anything like the Sacred song off the game, expect them to go along the lines of "A Night at the Opera" on the new album. I'm wondering though if they'll still release that orchestral album which Andre and Hansi were talking about sometime ago? I'm planning to do an interview with Hansi soon, hopefully it all goes well and I don't wee my pants when I'm on the phone to my idol. Then again, me and Adrian did pretty well when we meet the guys in Melbourne.
