I can understand why Sands deems the album energetic. I see some aspects of it that way too, was definately aggressive i think. I liked a couple of songs, St. Anger and Frantic, but no others really got me.

so the lars ulrich show is working on a new album.i wont be getting excited about this at all,the last time i got excited about this band was at the midnight sale of the black album back in 91,i was 16 at the time.by the end of the week i was dissapointed by the album,i had listened to it over and over again, looking for that magic i had heard in 1987,it had gone.now im 32 and realized i have spent half my metal listening life being constantly dissapointed by this band!but i always hope they rediscover what i felt, and a lot of metal fans believe their strengths.angry sounding guitars, intense drumming, beligerent lyrics that were unapollagetic and honest also the odd dark themes(creeping death, the thing that should not be).i dont expect them to constantly make master of puppets, but F**k me these guys were titans in the thrash scene once now there just soft and dull and i dont see them playing with the ferocity live these days, and dont give me that crap ther getting older, lemmy and motorhead still kick ass and he's over 60 and the same with dio and sabbath. stay metal

St. Anger was ok, but the production was pretty border line...even for something like Metallica. It seems they rushed the album knowing that millions of fans would do anything to get a glimpse of some new material. I really liked the material they had before Cliff Bernstein came in and ruined everything...that old fart made it sound like utter shit. If you have the Metallica movie, check out the tracks which didn't get used like Temptation and that other track that would have been used as an opener for the album, but got reject by Gandalf Ulrich. haha!! Seriously, Metallica should have done this album on their own. I know it was hard at the time, but what they put out was a mistake. Sure it has it's moments, but nothing with the same finese as the last releases. I have good faith in the band now that they have Rick Rubin, hopefully the new album will be all they promise and not some piece of shit which St. Anger was. Im not saying it's that bad, but I would rather eat dog doo-doo then have to sit through a session of that God forsaken album. Please dont hit me Suz.

hey look i've listened to all their releases, like skrabbsta said to have an informed opinion.i dont slag something off if i've never heard the music, thats just plain stupid.i realise these guys are not 18 but it seems they lost some passion, unfortunately i know some people like that.my whole argument is people can blindly follow something without questioning the quality of what it is there, purchasing, supporting, believing

With solo's and better production, St Anger would have been a much better album (even though I don't think it's particularly bad in the first place).

Agreed, and they could of edited parts of the songs. Invisible Kid and St Anger just go on and on and on. Still think it's better than the boring as shit Load albums

The LOAD albums werent bad, they just weren't awesome like the 80s stuff. But they shit all over St. Anger. The first half of LOAD is kick arse!!

Load is horrible, one of the dullest albums i've ever heard. Reload was worse. They really lost me in the 90's, but St Anger bought me back. At least Lars was using his double kick again.
