Its a hard one to argue when you say the animals are caged or in a pool out of their natural environment, I do agree the capture of these wild animals in the first place is wrong to then have them in a smaller enviro than their natural one, such as a circus or zoo which I feel sorry for them, ok take my birds for example (God help any one of you here lol) they are caged but allowed freedom from morning till bed time, my birds never get closed in they fly around my house as they please, although they stick to pretty much around thier house* and areas. They are domestic bred born around cages, never ever seen the wild, IF god forbid they fly loose they will perish within 24-48 hours or some wild bird will eat them for dinner, they have never known the wild and are use to hand raising and being fed by me, their flock as they see me. The animals dont know any better, why because humans breed and capture them from birth, all I know is mine are better off with me being cared for with great love rather than locked up in some cage 24/7 in some pet shop being stared at and poked at, or possibly bought by some old lady who has them locked up till she dies or they die, they have wings therefore they fly and at my house they fly free, so my point being? A wild animal being captured as such is cruel to a point, the ones already bred and born in cages etc is not, they don't know the wild, my birds would die out there as they have never lived it or able to fend on their own or feed themselves. Sorry long diary. I also hate circus's

Personally those NRL players are rougher and tougher than AFL players, what beasts, now that is a tough sport I watch it from time to time they not only are built like brick houses but ya gotta be super fit to do what they do!

Susan, although keeping animals in captivity is cruel, i agree with you, atleast they are well taken care of and usually support well by their human owners, so its definately not cruel in my mind. However, to an extent it is. The idea of cruelty cannot be measured on dimensions, because then we have the problem of who draws the line where. Its just on a continuum. Keeping animals as pets may be cruel, but nothing as cruel as killing them. Now, although AFL players, I THINK, are a little fitter than NRL players (is that even possible), AFL is definately more of a thug sport. The amount of off the ball contact, cheap shots if you will, is a F**king disgrace. Thats why i hate the F**king sport. Skrabs i agree with you in that i have no problem with other cultures eating cat and dog, as long as they are killed with the least amount of cruelty, and thats what it comes down to with me. Sure id feel sorry for them, but id feel sorry for a cow dying too. So pretty much any animal can be killed and i wouldnt have a problem with it, its called tolerance. Why is what i think better than what some asian thinks? Its not.

I use to play both codes for about 4 years and i can honestly say Aussie Rules took it out of me more. I love them both but to me rugby league is the thug sport!
