i wouldnt call either of them thug sports - both codes have had the thuggery driven out of them by people getting hefty fines and suspensions for striking etc. Personally , I want league to get some of the thuggery back into it - especially in origin, one of my fondest memories in football was when Mark Geyer and Wally Lewis squared off during an origin game. That was a great era, Wally would of killed him. Get stuffed! And by thug sport, i mean that players elbow other players in the head, in the ribs, and they dont even have the ball!!!!! I mean i wouldnt like it if they did have the ball either, but if they dont have the ball there no need for it.

Think im voting labour. I dont trust either of the m*th*rf**k*rs but these I.R. laws just piss me off. I want rights at work. If you disagree take it to the rant thread! Lack of rights at work is completely overhyped. Employees still have many, many rights in the workplace, you just never hear about them with all the union hype surrounding work choices. Some asshole employers take it too far granted, but they were able to do that in the past if they chose to anyway. I'm an employer and treat my staff very, very well as i'm sure most employers do. The fact is unemployment is at all time low because emplyers are able to employ more people. Watch unemplyment skyrocket and business' go under if Labor get in. I could tolerate Rudd but Gillard is an anti-business scumbag. She will single handedly ruin this country. But how does unemployment skyrocket? Because businesses cant treat their staff like shit? Im sure alot of employers are good too. Just explain things to me, cause im young and dunno shit. I was originally going to vote liberal right, but so many people say labour is better. The wya i see it this country is in better shape than it was ten years ago when they came into power. So i really dunno. But like arise said, wats a good australian dollar when we have "less" rights at work? I really dont know.

The wya i see it this country is in better shape than it was ten years ago when they came into power. So i really dunno. But like arise said, wats a good australian dollar when we have "less" rights at work? I really dont know. The workplace agreements have allowed employees to customise their workplaces in order to be more productive and in-turn hire more employees. This might sound like i'm saying "allow employees to cut wages etc etc" but you have to remember that you cannot be forced to sign a workplace agreement. Employers to who "blackmail" their staff into signing unfair agreements need to be held accountable and what a lot of people don't know is that they are breaking the law in doing so. All we ever hear is how unfair they all are from the unions point of view and in some cases yes they have been used in an unfair fashion against workers - I think that is totally wrong. But, If employers are locked into the way they need to run their businesses as far as allocation of jobs, hours etc for their employees then they may, and I stress the word may, be forced into laying off employees in order to cover their expenses and run a profitable business. This in-turn creates higher unemployment. As for the people who have said "Labor is better", better at what? How do they know they are better when they havent been in power for 11 years and when they last were in power the country was in a far worse position than it is now. I'm fair dinkum' sick of hearing people say "this country needs a change" when they have no logical backing for a statement like that. I often ask the people who make a statement like that to tell me why we need a change and most can't even give me an asnwer except for a pathetic response like"I don't know I just think Howard's been in too long." What a load of bullshit, give me actual reasons and talk about policies or they should not make comment. I know people in here will disagree with my opinion and that's fine, thats what politics is all about. I dont want to upset anyone in here personally so please dont take it that way. There are also probably people in here that may have been directly negatively affected by some Liberal policies of the past, and for that I sympathise greatly. Labor have their good points and I wont be totally devastated if and probably when they come into power tomorrow evening, but like you said Stormster the country is going ahead at a rate of knots right now and I see no reason to throw a spanner in the works. PS people who blame interest rate rises on this Government also have no idea what they are talking about and need to be taught about inflation. The Government have very very very little affect on interest rates and the fact that people have chosen to use their recent tax cuts to spend more on themselves is the reason they have gone up, so if its anyones fault it's the general public fault.

In reply to what Beetle was saying -
you cant be forced to sign a worplace agreement , but the employer doesnt have to hire you if you dont - i think that is F**ked.
The country is in a better state now than what it was when Labour were in power - yes - but when Labour left power , the country was in a better state than when the previous Liberal govenment was in - whos to say that the new Labour govt wont take what the Libearals have done and keep it going on the up ( but then again whos to say the opposite wont happen )
Im not going to say the country needs a change but what we do need is for a government to be not so preoccupied with the top 5% of earners and giving them tax breaks and subsidising their childrens private schooling. In the years since the GST was introduced , the tax cuts that have been offered by the current government have all been at the top of the tax bracket with the exception of 1 where they increased the tax free threshold which then benefitted everyone. Whilst I dont argue that the bracket for the top marginal tax rate should ot have been increased , it should have been offset each time with a rise of the tax free threshold - only in the last 12 months has this happened which just happened to be an election year. I wouldnt say that i am 100% Labour - but - they do seem to be more interested with lower to middle income Australians than the liberals and seeing as though I fit into that category I am leaning more towards that plus the fact that the workplace arrangements in place now cost me getting any redundancy payout from my last job , i wouldnt vote liberal on principle.
i will vote for what I feel will benefit my family the most - nothing more , nothing less

Before i read any of the replies to your post in this thread, i want to say this. If anyone takes what beetle said personally, you're F**king stupid. Its jsut an opinion, we all vary. All i wanted are people opinions, and not just "cause i dont like howard". Beetle explained his opinions and why he believes in them and thats awesome. Now to read the replies. Im 20 and havent voted before in the federal election, my vote counts so i want to make the right choice.

So really you dont have a choice anyway, agree to get treated badly or not have a job.
