@ Wrathchild Xbox360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii offer an online store which you can buy games from. Xbox360 offers more old school arcade games like Pacman, Galaga, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter...the list goes on. PS3 dont offer many arcade games, they do have quite afew games but not as many as the Wii or Xbox360 database. The Wii offers all old Nintendo games, every single Mario game is available to download from the system for only $8 each. But yeah about the graphics, if people are only worrying about that and not the games, get a beast PC. Playing people online is the only thing that cost money, if you want to downlaod demos, arcade games, movie trailers, tv shows and odd bits and pieces such as patches for games, thats free. Silver membership is what you get when you dont purchase a membership. Silver = Free Gold = $80 a year 12 month gold pack is rougly $80, which includes updated multiplayer games, round the clock support and just a good network of people to play with. You can also buy a starter pack which comes with a wired headset and12 months membership which is roughly $80 all up. This is to get new people into the experience of Xbox Live, you can get a wireless headset but they cost more. You can either pay by credit card for purchases on Xbox Live or you can go to EB Games or JB Hifi and buy prepaid cards which can be redeemed on the Xbox Live network. Nintendo Wii offer the same sort of cards, but I have yet to hear if PS3 do it with there downloads.

We have a Wii... it is a good party game machine for multiple people.
Am looking at an xbox 360 - they are $539 for pro/prem (whatever it is called) including 3 games. I would rather get the elite version with HDMI and 120Gb drive though.... but that is ~$729 with no games....
I wouldn't buy either in particular based on blu-ray vs HD-DVD playback... that still has such a way to go before anyone will know.... just choose based on price of console, games, features etc.

The Wii is good if you want to get a bit of a work out while you play - especially if you get the sports game ( cant remember the name ) where you can box , play tennis , golf and ten pin bowling. you feel the burn , especially after a few rounds in the ring in boxing.

I bought my xbox 360 yesterday Got the pro version (which now has the HDMI port - but check the box as it may only be on newer stock as the guy in the shop didn't know stock with the HDMI had arrived yet). Also got Forza 2 and Viva Pinata in the box plus Bioshock for free. Also bought Project gotham racing 3 for $15. All for $594.

Not a bad price, god I've got 2 x PS1, 1 x PS2 and can not play any of them, not enough time! Hundreds of games, but still no time,]
PS3 for me after February, will be much cheaper then.

Not sure what the connection is like for the 360, but I have heard that racing the V8's against oppostion from the other side of the world via the internet on the PS3 is very, very good.
Know I have fairly quick internat, that might be the go.

I found this site by chance and had a look. Bloody funny his commentary on games as he's playing them, especially since most are old games that I remember playing when I was a lot younger. Angry Video Games Nerd WebsiteCiao ...
