I'd be tempted to buy an Xbox 360 if I could afford it. As much as i'm still a Playstation fan more than an Xbox fan, the online system for Xbox absolutely kicks the ass of the PS3 and that alone makes it very tempting to "switch sides".
However I do think it's an absolute ripoff that the current gen console games are over the $100 dollar mark. I mean, I didn't even like paying 60 or 70 for my PS2 games haha

I can get you a PS3 for $300, I was actually going to buy it, but I already have a Xbox360 and have no need for another system.
Once I know I can get it i'll send you a reminder and see if you still want it, I should know by next week.
The guy who is selling it needed cash fast, I didn't ask to many questions but he said it doesn't come with controllers or AV cables, I guess thats why its so cheap.
@ Mean Machine
You'd be surprised how cheap Xbox360 games are now. Most if not all my game I bought, I haven't paid anything over $60. The cheapest game I bought was Oblivion which was $35 after I traded in 2 PS2 games. I also bought Rainbow Six: Vegas brand new from JB Hifi for only $40. If you shop around you can find some pretty sweet deals, mostly at JB Hifi since they destroy the competition with sales.
PS3 are and will be expensive for quite sometime. The sales on the machine are so low, that they have to up the price of games so they make a profit. All "old" PS3 games are still at there starting price of $79 - $89, while Xbox360 charge only $29 - $39 for old or classic range games.
Both systems have their good a bad points, but if you want a fun factor i'd get a Xbox360 for the sole reason of being cheaper, having better online features then Wii or PS3, more games, more options and of course Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3.
PS3 will dominate the market with graphics in the near future, but not many people care about graphics anymore and most of the games that are coming to PS3 will be on Xbox360 anyway.
At the moment you can get a Xbox360 with 2 controllers and 2 games for around $530. I paid $700 last year and got the premium system which comes with a 20 gig harddrive, High Definition cables, 2 games, 2 controllers, 3 months free of Xbox Live and a free arcade game. The other great bonus of Xbox is Xbox Live, even though you have to pay $80 a year for it you'll get better connections and more features then you would with a PS3.
Its hard to say at the moment which system is better, but for your moneys worth id get a Xbox360.

I just remember last time I went through the console section at... umm Kmart or wherever I was, the new games were all $120 and the lesser games were still around the $100 mark. As for the graphics thing you brought up. If someone thinks that the graphics are so important that it's the only reason they'd take a PS3 over a 360, i'd say get a good gaming PC!

Mitch is right...gaming PC shits all over any console. But for my money,...I am waiting. Ps3 is Blu ray Xbox 360 is HD. Nintendo I'm not really interested in.
I'm going to wait, see the titles coming out, and also see what takes the upper hand....Blu ray or HD. I will then make a choice on those factors.
I'm betting on Blu Ray by early estimates, also the 360 has a history of cooking itself. It's quite common. But with later releases, this should be rectified.

Yeah I heard that... in the U.S. it was estimated one in every 3 xbox360's overheated itself....fire hazard....be careful. And going by the games I have to set up to go on the shelves at work....playstations are MUCH cheaper than xbox's. I have no idea what the ps3 games would be like price wise as we haven't got any yet. But yeah Mitch is right even we have to pay on average $140 for an xbox360 game, and that's direct from the distributer.

I checked some out, target have them for around $700 To get this console cheap is good, but I'd then have to spend a couple hundred anyway to get the other parts? I would prefer brand new full package.
