Iron Maiden Confirm Special Clive Burr Show Published: May 25, 2007
As a grand finale to their festival/stadium summer tour, IRON MAIDEN will perform a special one-off performance at London's Brixton Academy on Sunday 24th June in aid of The Clive Burr MS Trust fund.
Brixton Academy holds just 4,800 and tickets for this intimate performance will go on sale to members of the Iron Maiden fan club at 9am on Friday 25th May. The box office will open to the general public a week later on Friday 1st June.
This will be Iron Maiden's final UK appearance for at least a year, and will be the last time they will perform this years special set list of songs from their No 1 International album 'A Matter Of Life and Death' and the album 'The Number of the Beast'. The show will be the last chance to see the spectacular stage production that the band have been performing with around the world, including Eddie and his tank up close for the last time. Special guests will be Lauren Harris and eight piece Indian Rock act Parikrama, who came to the band's attention when they supported Maiden in Bangalore in March, and will be the first time an Indian rock band have toured the UK.
The Clive Burr MS Trust Fund was founded in 2001 when it was learnt that original Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, who performed on their first three albums, Iron Maiden, Killers and The Number of the Beast, was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Through previous Iron Maiden performances at Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo, and some amazing fund raising efforts of the fans, the trust has improved the quality of life with financial support to Clive and other MS sufferers.
Reflecting on the forthcoming show Bruce Dickinson commented, "We added this final date to help continue the great work that the Clive Burr MS Fund has done. We've had an amazing time on this tour so far and the summer shows are shaping up to be something quite special in their own right. It promises to be a fun and special way to celebrate the end of the tour with all our friends who have supported us and Clive over the years."
Advance ticket information has already been sent to all online Iron Maiden Fan club members. Ticket master are kindly donating a proportion of their booking charges to the fund.

I tell you what would be really awesome... an iron maiden rally... no, sorry was caught up in delusions there but seriously, how about an organised mass-email effort, where we organise a ton of people to write personalised emails and send them to aussie tour promoters who have brought heavy bands down recently, as well as maiden themselves... But have some tight timeframe for sending the emails, so that it's not just a gradual thing, but a blasting crusade =D Surely hundreds of emails is more difficult to ignore than one email with a list of names... I mean i would have sent emails myself, but it has always just felt like a single email here or there is a tiny drop in the ocean, but a concerted campaign could at least make a slightly larger drop in the ocean, enough that the idea sticks in someones head. edit: everyone could send a smallish picture of themselves in their favourite maiden shirt, holding an aussie flag to show it's not a single spam-a-holic on a mission.

Good idea I have the perfect tee shirt, the old DC shirt has the flag & VB can etc exactly!! as far as promoters go, just do a bit of research into who is bringin bands down... i don't have much time at the moment, but quickly here are some i found: guns n roses: www.dcegroup.com/G3/Evanescence/Pearl Jam : www.coppel.com.au/html/c_tr_fs.htmlSlayer/Dark Tranquillity/Lamb Of God/Nightwish/ : www.myspace.com/bluemurderAlice cooper: Lennard Promotions (can't see email) Celtic frost/Testament: MW & RGS Entertainment (can't see email)

Okay whats the best way to do this? Sure 10m of us from BDU can do it, but that wont make a difference. I can post it on the TM forum, Mitch can post it on the LORD forum, we can ALL make bulletins on myspace about it, trooper can put it on the maiden forums. If people wanna bitch like they usually do on some of these forums just let them. It might be in vain but atleast we would be trying. Dont do it yet tho, as Ben mentioned, it needs to be a mass effort and needs to be done altogether, within the space of a week or two, not over mon ths and months. Im going to wait til my exam period is over, but after that i will get onto it. Until then, refrain from posting ideas on other forums. In a few weeks we will hit the forums and myspace, and hopefully alot of people will get onto the bandwagon. I think we should stick clear of political emails that attack rod smallwood and the band and shit, just state that you want maiden down here, theres a fan base (maybe listen forums and stuff), and that its been so long and if other bands can come down, surely a bigger band like maiden can too. Its worth an effort.

Okay whats the best way to do this? Personal feedback to promoters like letters and phone calls. Emails only, if you have correct direct address (not feedback@promoter.com etc...). IM makes tour plans really early and band knows were they are going to tour in 2008, although noting hasn't been confirmed yet. IM will do multiple mini world tours [example: 2 weeks touring, 2 months off, 4 weeks touring....] in 2008, no touring in 2009 and album tour in 2010.

Don't do it yet... remember!
Must do it together, it is worth a shot, now that the petition has all but died.
IronDave may help, perhaps we can ask, he may know some addresses.
I have been in contact with M. Coppel before so I will look it up, hopefully I still have it!

OK does anyone have any ideas about how to approach this? I was thinking I could set up some sort of a website, to help organise it all, where: A) people can add themselves to a mailing list and then updates can be sent out B) latest news can be posted C) posters or something to print out (to link people to the website) can be provided D) ideas/comments can be submitted E) ....other stuff... ideas??? What do you guys think? if it's good, then we need an idea for a domain name, like www.maidenaustralia.org.au or something. Also ideas for marketing? I have a couple of ideas, but i'd rather fish around for other ones...

I dunno man. I like this mass email effort thing, but alot of Australians have just given up on maiden coming. Alot of people also wont be bothered if they think its a useless exercise. Both of these things will F**k up our chances. But after my exams im up for researching this stuff. Where beetle n tazzy with their expert opinions.
