Maybe we should pool some money together, see if we have enough for an ad in a major newspaper. If enough of us chip in, it won't cost us much individually, and we could raise a bit of awareness.
Also, anybody know of a Sydney Petition? There are a few fans here, and we're itching to support.

Welcome Spencer, not sure what you are asking in regards to Sydney Petition but if you are volunteering to assist in getting a petition out in your part of the world that is fantastic. If this is the case, PM your e-mail address to me and I will forward you all the documents a.s.a.p. Then you just have to print and take them around to some music or similiar type shops that sell IM stuff, talking them into placing a copy somewhere. How many other fans can you get to help? Have you signed the online petition, we definately need ALL the help we can get in all cases and if your willing to assist in the publication of an ad then stay tuned here. Up the Irons!!

Fly as high as the sun! mine is in a small idependant store ACE MUSIC in Narellan Town Centre Narellan which is out near Campbelltown. From what i can see so far NONE of our other Sydney members have even bothered to even try and help i really hope that if we are successful with our petition that they miss out on tickets and dont get to the concert . It appears that there are only 3 members of this forum that can be bothered how bloddy hard is it receive a e-mail print it then next time ya go to your local music store ask if you can leave it pretty bloody easy i reckon. So come on SYDNEY people start helping out. Thank You Michael Goddard (TROOPER71)

Also, anybody know of a Sydney Petition? There are a few fans here, and we're itching to support. Fly as high as the sun! Welcome Spencer I don't know if you were a member on Clansmen or not but anyhoo....here's the plan, for the pen to paper petition. Once the signatures are collected, everybody posts them to me. I will PM all the appropriate people with my address when the time comes. Then I will take them down to the trusty print shop and have a few copies made of each siggy page. The petitions will be sent to a number of Australian Tour Promoting Companies with an open letter challenging them to take the ball and run with it, to see who will be the first to jump on this opportunity to get themselves some free media exposure, and become the hero's of the desperate plight of some dedicated Iron Maiden fans bla bla bla put your best catchy media spin on it...etc etc. THAT SAME WEEK they recieve the petition package in the mail, the open letter WILL BE PRINTED IN A FULL PAGE AD in the free press music mags around the country (eg: BEAT magazine in Melbourne and similar others as per state) as well as circulated around the net on the appropriate sites and other appropriate media notified as well (radio/newspapers etc etc) YES we will be passing around the hat to anybody who would like to donate to the cost of placing the full page ads, this will be incredibly appreciated as, while it is relatively inexpensive to place a full page ad in these mags....it's still going to cost us a couple grand give or take a few hundred, once we've covered enough territory. It will be a cordinated effort, Sanctuary will recieve word of what's going on as it's happening. Without opening up the files to read through the whole thread from the old board again I think (correct me if I'm wrong someone please) StillLife mentioned something about his contacts with EMI and working out something with them as well. Not sure what it was though, please forgive me if I got it wrong SL. As for Brother Stephens suggestion about taking out a smaller ad in the meantime to drum up support/volunteers for the petition, it's a brilliant idea. Personally I think we should do it when the album comes out....there will be Iron Maiden buzz all around and therefore more likely to peak interest, not to mention the ad will be more noticeable to eye and ear traffic at that time as well. Good idea if we can get this list up of where petitions can already be found placed in the ad so people know where to go to sign, as well as directing them here to the forum to join up and help us with our volunteer sort-of-semi-street-team thing happening. If anyone wants a copy of that letter to head off the "I'll pass it on to head office/chuck it in the bin when you're back is turned" excuse, please PM me. I do have what was written in the old thread about it on this computer here, but the actual letter format yadda yadda is saved on the home puter, so if you want that one pm me anyway and I'll email it to you when I'm home on Monday. Otherwise I can fish it out and post it up from the old thread on here, just if people don't have a friggen clue what I'm on about. Goin outside for a ciggyfag be back in a sec.

To be honest, my one lame attempt was as much as can get my wee heart to cope with, I'm like social phobic when it comes to asking ppl for stuff, esp strangers.... anyway, I hope I can help other ways... I could do it in a group going asking ppl in queues, but not real ppl in shops Not a problem Vickchickanicki.... I totally understand what you mean because I have been the same way myself for many years.....I'm just pushing meself past it by a bees dick so I totally understand where you are coming from. You're more than welcome to hit the city with me and AMF asap, once I get these new front page thingo's with the new site link on em printed up.... if ya want we can grit our teeth and bear it together I'll leave it up to you though. Besides you've got your thesis to work on minus extensions, so whatever time you are able to spare to do anything is a bonus beyond the call of duty

It's a shame that you feel that way Skrabsta, but if you can continue with this forum at least the rest of us have a way to communicate with the rest of the working bees!! As for MaidenOz's post, thanks for the info again, very good!!! As for the files (letter, Petition, signs etc) I will have them updated (new forum address) by this afternoon, so don't stress I will send it to you! If anyone else wants a copy let me know your e-mail address by PM. Trooper71, I agree! To read, check and then print a few sheets of A4 and ask to stick it in some shops is SOOOO Easy and something everyone should have a go at at least once!

Sorry, I'll get to my petitions on this weekend, maybe Saturday.
May not be able to update the content of the signs until later though, as I haven't had a response from Gloria as yet (in regards to using her artwork). Might have to add a sticker with the correct web site address over the old one for the time being!!

Consider these forums my contribution to the effort then - at least this way I dont have to leave my house. Seems fair! Especially if you can't leave the house. As for the Cities tha Maiden should play to, I think Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, oh and Geelong.
