I've signed the petition a few times, though I doubt it will do any good. I reckon if we pass the hat around and save up for a bullet with Rod Smallwood's name written on it, that would do the trick ;D [joking - just in case some 'terrorist' read this]
Ciao ...

OK, now that I'm finally home i guess i should get to work on updating the new board with all the info from the old one. One important piece I thought should go back up is the open letter that will be sent to the promoters and published in the newspapers at the same time. This is a FIRST DRAFT ONLY... I want you guys to give your opinions on it, what you feel should be left out, what replaced, cut short, elaborated on, emphasised more etc etc. Remember that this letter will be going to print in a full page ad around the country, and to a group of very astute and apparently hard to sway businessmen, who are in effect standing in our way of getting an Iron Maiden tour. We need to tickle their "hmmmmm this could be a good move for our company" bone. ______________________________________________________ Open Letter to all Australian Tour Promoters… To whom it may concern, We the fans of “Iron Maiden” wish to bring to your attention our desire for you to invite the greatest heavy metal band on planet earth to our shores for a full major city tour. Iron Maiden has not toured our country since 1992 despite having released many albums and DVD’s since. Many of us have spent literally thousands of dollars travelling to overseas destinations purely for the purpose of seeing them live on stage. The popularity of Iron Maiden and dedication of fans in this country, we believe, is being overlooked by our music industry promoters. We can only conclude the reason for this to be the complete lack of airplay or any sort of media exposure, the band receives. (“Lack of” meaning next to NONE) Despite this complete absence of media promotion on any level, the band’s album and DVD sales have still managed to rate well on mainstream charts. Recently Motley Crue toured our shores and sold out their concerts faster than was obviously expected, as extra gigs had to be added to the tour to accommodate the demand. With all due respect to “The Crue” Iron Maiden’s fan base in this country would easily overshadow that of Motley Crue…. threefold. Perhaps more. We are at a loss as to understand why no tour has eventuated in over 14 years. Explanations from the bands management have quoted “logistical problems” and not being able to strike an appropriate deal with Australian Promoters, as reasons for this. From all accounts the band themselves are quite willing to tour here, the problem with actuating such an event appears to originate from our own promoters, expecting to not gain any return on their capital investment from organizing such an event! We the fans urge you to get out there and do your research. There IS a demand for an Iron Maiden tour here in this country. A HUGE demand. Get out there and talk to the fans, SEE FOR YOURSELVES how many Iron Maiden t-shirts you’ll find proudly donning the bodies of their dedicated fans. Iron Maiden has been producing top quality albums and live stage shows for 30 years. Their fan base spans generations. They have influenced some of the biggest name heavy metal bands in the world today. They are without a doubt the worlds greatest Heavy Metal/Hard Rock act ever produced. To expect that promoting a tour down here would be too much of a financial risk to your company, is with all due respect, out of touch with your own market. As a demonstration of our desire for one of you to grab the bull by the horns and make an Iron Maiden tour happen in this country… please find enclosed the signatures collected of but “a small section” of the Iron Maiden community of Australia. Respectfully The Iron Maiden Fans Australia ______________________________________________________ OK Discuss...

Brilliant, you hit the nail on the head there, they ARE out of touch with their market. To even think that you would not profit from a Maiden tour is just plain ignorant. Great letter Maiden Oz, let's just hope they see the light.

Don't forget there's an Early Days part 2 coming (apparently) at soem point, with a tour following.
oh sorry....btw... thanks for the comments guys, was there anything you felt should be left out or added in or edited in some way? or maybe we should wait and see how the ARIA charts do when the album's released to start thinkin about any changes?
